World of Tanks: Mercenaries is the largest and most encompassing expansion of single- and multiplaye

World of Tanks may well have come to PC first, but over the four years since its release on Xbox 360, and later on Xbox One, the console version has grown to have its own unique identity. This will be further emphasised later this month when a new expansion arrives. "World of Tanks: Mercenaries" is promised to be the "largest and most encompassing expansion of single- and multiplayer content" for the game and it will be arriving exclusively on consoles.

Shoot and crush your way through the snow-covered Old River City map and its plethora of destructible environments, then decimate all opposing mechs to reign supreme. Be careful out there, Pilot, as destroyed mechs will experience a core breach explosion capable of levelling city blocks and your mech as well. The action doesn’t stop if you get knocked down—just eject, respawn, and get right back at it again!

The expansion will introduce a new "nation": Mercenaries. They're crews of hired guns with no national loyalties. This will bring a complete tech tree full of new vehicles. The tanks available here have been built using parts scavenged from the vehicles of different nations, meaning they've been tailored to the needs of the unique Mercenary crews that pilot them. When the expansion launches, five vehicles will be available. Over the coming months, Wargaming promises the Mercenary nation will grow alongside their notoriety. As well as the new campaign and vehicles, the expansion will bring a variety of "fan-favourite" multiplayer maps that have been affected by the ravages of war. Players will be able to battle here using the new vehicles or the 680+ vehicles that already exist in the game. More maps are also promised after the initial launch.

While mechs may be a surprising addition to World of Tanks: Mercenaries, this mode marks a return to the roots of Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore, with some of the key talents behind Microsoft’s machine-mashing MechAssault series working to bring Core Breach to life. This special event is the latest in a series of crazy fan-favorite modes that flip World of Tanks: Mercenaries’ core gameplay on its head, with previous events featuring sea-faring battles, tank warfare on Mars, and even an alien invasion of Earth!
